LOWER DANUBE. Geto-Dacians. 1st century BC. 'Denarius' (Silver, 18 mm, 4.39 g, 6 h), possibly imitating a Roman Republican denarius of M. Papirius Carbo (122 BC) and M. Volteius (78 BC). Head of Roma to right, wearing winged helmet; behind, palm frond (?); before, X (mark of value). Rev. Tetrastyle temple of Jupiter Capitolinus with closed doors; in pediment, winged thunderbolt; in exergue, M V.OLTEI (retrograde). Cf. Crawford 276/1 (for possible prototype of obverse) and 385/1 (for prototype of reverse). Very fine.
